Frequently Asked
Questions
Where are you located?
Elysian Palms Massage & Spa Suite is located at Greentree Professional Center at 10661 Airport-Pulling Road Suite 15 on the second floor.
The office is ten minutes west of I-75 via Immokalee Road, twenty minutes north of Naples Airport via Aiport-Pulling Road, 25 minutes south of Southwest Florida Airport RSW via I-75 & Immokalee Road, and twenty minutes north of 5th Avenue Naples via Goodlette-Frank Road & Immokalee.
I am directly across from Sam’s Club Naples and upstairs from NCH Sleep Medicine Center and Total Health of Naples Chiropractic.
What Are Your Hours?
I am available to see you for in office services 8am to 8pm Monday through Friday, 10am to 5pm on Saturday & Sunday. I do have some flexibility for earlier hours in office (5am to 7am), or after hours (10pm to 1am) at your location in the instances of emergencies, travel day relief, or if your work schedule does not allow you to schedule within listed hours.
What do You Provide?
Spa relaxation massage, therapeutic massage, body scrubs and wraps, and hot/cold treatments.
All practices are science-informed and performed within the parameters of Florida State Massage Therapy Law.
Is An Intake Form Really Necessary?
Yes. I require a self-provided health assessment and signed consent to work on you. Its really important that you provide as much information as you can about your current health, injuries, conditions, chronic pain, or medications you currently take (i.e. blood thinners) so that I can safely provide a massage for you. An Intake is required for all new clients before the your first treatment and I will review for any changes once per year for existing clients.
You may complete your New Client Intake online once I confirm your appointment or you can fill it out in office before we begin. I securely store your intake form in a locked cabinet and your intake, treatment plan, and session notes are only reviewed by myself.
Consultation and the time it takes you to complete your intake in office never counts against table time, I allot ten minutes prior to all New Client Appointments for the form and a brief chat.
What do You NOT Provide?
Diagnoses of medical conditions, medical prescriptions or instructions outside of massage therapy, chiropractic adjustments, or sexual activity of any kind.
Is There A shower Inside Of Your Facility?
While there is a spotlessly clean lavatory steps away from the table, there is no shower facility in this office, nor is there a sauna or a steam room at this time. Oils and creams are applied in an intentional manner and hot towel treatment is offered at the conclusion of each session to remove any lubricant residue so you feel refreshed and ready to return to your day or least comfortable enough to make it home to your shower at home or the gym.
Should I Bathe prior To Arrival?
You should arrive in whatever state you feel comfortable arriving in.
You wanna play a round of golf before your massage? Come in. You have Barre class scheduled before your massage? Come in. Worked all day? Come in.
If you prefer to freshen up before your massage that is your choice but it is not my insistence or a requirement, unless you have chlorine on your skin (please rinse off after pool swimming before arrival).
Keep in mind that bathing in very hot water just prior to a massage could leave you feeling light-headed or faint post massage.
I will take care of you exactly as you are, however your schedule or comfort level permits.
What should I Wear?
For a table massage you should wear comfortable clothes that are easy for you to get in and out of (think comfy clothes, loose fitted, active wear etc.). If you wear jewelry pieces that are removable consider leaving them at home for your session so that you don’t have to fret about the possibility of taking it off and losing it. I do have a little jewelry tray for you so that you can place them in a visible and routine place when you visit. I understand if there are pieces which you never remove and I can and will work around them. But if you are wearing a necklace, chain, bracelet, or anklet for the day for fashion, I would ask that you please take it off for your massage.
Will I Be Getting Undressed?
You will be getting undressed to your comfort level. For most people that means leaving underwear or panties on, while removing undershirts or bras. For others that means completely nude. If you would prefer to keep a bra or bikini top on that is perfectly okay.
After we go over your intake, expectations and preferences, I will excuse myself to the lobby and place a pager on the table top. You will undress to your comfort level and arrange yourself on the table, underneath the sheet and blanket, and press the button on the pager at which point I will re-enter the room.
Will I be Draped?
You will be draped for the entirety of the massage. Meaning: your breasts, abdomen, and your genitals will always be covered completely by an opaque sheet (unless I am performing an abdominal massage at which point your chest will be covered by a towel with your stomach exposed). When you’re on my table I will preserve your modesty at all times, folding the sheet down to access your neck, shoulders, and upper pectorals (including women, with permission), removing your arms to place them atop the sheet and exposing your legs, thighs as I work on them. All glute work will be performed (with permission) above the sheet, unless you explicitly request skin to skin contact or I am performing a body treatment (wood contouring/cupping, or body polishing).
I drape conservatively when performing stretching so that you feel secure no matter how your body is passively positioned. I will treat your body as I expect my body to be treated when I’m receiving a massage - in a clinical fashion with the utmost respect.
Chair massage can be performed while you’re fully dressed or with the removal of your shirt or shoes.
What if I Prefer To Not Be Draped?
Florida Law:
"Draping" means the act of applying a drape or drapes to the patient's body for massage therapy treatment. Appropriate draping includes coverage of the genitalia, groin, femoral triangle, anus, buttocks, gluteal cleft, and breasts at all times unless the patient gives specific informed consent to be undraped and written specific informed consent is noted in the patient's treatment plan.
Fla. Admin. Code R. 64B7-23.001
If you prefer that your breasts (chest), femoral triangle, or buttocks remain undraped it will be discussed and noted in your treatment plan notes. You will be required to sign your treatment plan indicating that you have provided informed consent.
At no point will I provide a massage therapy treatment with your genitalia, groin, anus, or the full length of your gluteal cleft exposed.
Can I Decline Having A certain Part of My Body Massaged?
Absolutely. Remember: I provide fully customizable massage. I do have a style, or flow, and after our consultation I will have an idea of how I would like to approach your massage or body treatment. However, this is about you, not me- and I never lose sight of that. If you don’t care to have your face, scalp, arms, hands, or feet touched I will be mindful of that. If you are preferring that your time be concentrated on your back, or your shoulders, or your legs etc. I can do that! All you have to do is express your preferences at the beginning of the session (or even more ideally prior to arrival with your online booking so I can really prepare for you).
On another note, I find that sometimes people are shy about receiving say, a foot massage, because they haven’t recently had a pedicure or they’re fearful that I will be offended by an odor. Please do not insist on leaving your socks on for a reason like this. Time on my table is time in which you will be methodically cared for without reservation or judgement. I want you to receive the full benefit of a relaxation massage without anxiety or self-consciousness.
I’m Large/Tall, Can I Get A Massage?
My table is 73 inches in length (6 feet and 1 inch), and 30 inches wide (2 feet and 6 inches). The table has a weight limit of 750 lbs! I also have a full body bolster specifically for the comfort of larger body types; the chest and stomach both depress in a soft, cushioned way so that you can lay prone without feeling uncomfortable.
Come get a massage, this is all body friendly body work.
I’m Pregnant, Can I Get A Massage?
At this time I am not certified in Prenatal Massage. While I can technically provide a prenatal massage, I would prefer to delay providing this service until I receive additional training specifically for the care of an expectant mother.
I would be happy to give you some ideas about where to find a specialized maternity massage here in Naples.
If you have a strong preference for me as your therapist I will accept your appointment with written permission from current physician stating that is safe for you to receive a massage.
My Child Needs A Massage, Can We Come In?
Children and young adults (all minors under the age of eighteen unless illegally emancipated) may visit the Spa Suite with a parent / guardian present for the entirety of the massage. They must be fully clothed (i.e. shorts and a t-shirt, or a swimsuit) for the duration of the massage. Children under the age of 14 are limited to 30 minutes sessions. If you are searching for a pediatric specialty massage let me know and I will give you some suggestions.
what floor are you located on? does your building have an elevator?
My office is located on the second floor and there is no elevator. You will have to ascend four stairs, and then a short staircase of approximately 20 steps in order to reach the second level. If you are not capable of visiting with me in office due to the stairs, I can travel to you.
Are you Available To Come To My Home, Hotel, Resort, or Office?
I offer both in-office table massage and on-site table & chair massage services. On-site or out-call massage is available in your home, office, hotel or resort.
Prepaid Frequent Appointments: For clients who schedule frequent (weekly or bi-weekly) appointments prepaid in a packages of ten, I can purchase a massage table for your convenience at no additional cost. This way, you can store your own dedicated table, and I can simply arrive with my backpack!
On-Site Chair Massage: I'm also available to provide fully dressed chair massages for groups, parties, offices, and events. This is a great option for promoting relaxation and stress relief in a social setting, without requiring a massage table.
Please inquire for more details and pricing on any of these services.
what methods of Payment Do you Accept?
I accept all major credit and debit cards and cash. I do not accept insurance payments at this time, but I can provide you with detailed receipts and treatment notes for reimbursement.
Do I have To tip?
In a chain spa where massage therapists receive about 30% of what you’re charged, tipping 15-25% of the service is customary as most of their income (like restaurant servers) is derived from gratuities. However, I am an independent massage therapist and small business owner- I set my own pricing, and 100% of your service fee goes to me.
I want for you to come enjoy a relaxation session without worry that I have an expectation of a tip, especially, especially if that gratuity would make the price of the service prohibitive for you.
Please come in and relax :-)
If you tip, I will be honored to accept- but it is not a requirement.
Thank You And Welcome To Elysian Palms Massage & Spa!
